Autumn is at the corner so it’s time for layers and wearing warmer clothes like sweaters or cardigans.
In this new series, Wardrobe Essentials, I introduce the most basic items that every successful wardrobe need. Key pieces are great for mix and match your outfits and always look chic and radiant.
For this first part, I show you a couple of neutral and basic color cardigans that suit not just for your Deep Autumn or Deep Winter seasonal palette but your natural and dramatic style as well.
The colors are dark and rich but while the Winter shades are on the cool side, the Autumn colors are warmer.
The recommended neutral and basic colors for Deep Autumn and Deep Winter women
The best neutral shades for Deep Autumns are; cream, camel, chocolate brown, and navy.
Great basic colors for Deep Autumns are for example; orange, maroon red, mustard yellow, dark olive green, tawny, teal or coffee brown.
The best neutral colors for Deep Winters are; white, medium and charcoal grays, and navy as well.
Great basic colors for Deep Winters are for example; dark blue, purple, royal fuchsia, dark ruby red, dark turquoise or deep gray-blue.
Note: neutral colors typically include black, white, gray, navy and brown shades. The combination of these colors creates a sophisticated and polished look. However, neutrals look great with other colors as well.
Basic colors are mostly the shades of the main colors on the color wheel like yellow, orange, blue, green or red. If you want a colorful but minimalist wardrobe – choose a couple of basic shades so you can have always matching outfits.

Hi! I just read your blog and made the test, according to the test i’m cool winter but I don’t feel identified with the cool winter palette, instead I feel atracted and I have always been atracted by deep winter palette colors. I really like your blog and everything here!

Hey,
I just ran across your blog & I love the ideas & organization by color group. Could you tell me who made the rusty red cardigan with the ruffles and brass buttons? It's gorgeous — never seen one like it.
Thanks!
MAM
Thanks, Agnes! 🙂

I really enjoy your articles, and learn a lot! I especially adore the patterned cardigan in the Deep Winter section – second row, far left with the animal print and purple. Can you please share a link for it?
